Due to the latest government guidelines regarding Covid-19 restrictions on group meetings we have no choice but to cancel the AGM planned for Thursday 17th September. Please see the message below from Shirley Cornwell, Membership Secretary.
Dear Trustees & Members,
I have been unable to get any assurances that we are legally able to hold the AGM meeting, the Government website referred me to the Charities Commission who said they had no knowledge on the details of rules for holding a meeting They suggested that I contact the local council or the police. I have contacted both and both have said that there is nothing documented for this particular scenario and they advise we should not go ahead. Therefore we are unable to satisfy Sandiacre Cricket Club's requirement that it would be within the law.
The Charities Commission told me that although the cut off date for the AGM to be held is 30th September, as long as we document the reasons why we are unable to meet that date, it will be acceptable.
The Covid rules are being changed regularly, so if there is an opportunity to go ahead at a later date I will let you know.
